Skills for life
TRY IT. DO IT. GET GOOD AT IT.
Practical life skills are a big part of Springboard. Not lessons — actual doing. Over the year, young people get the chance to pick up skills that make them more confident and more independent.
First Aid
Know what to do when something goes wrong — bandages, basics and staying calm.
Cooking
Real food, made properly. Knife skills, simple meals and clearing up after yourself.
Online Safety
Straight talk about group chats, gaming, privacy and staying in control online.
Creativity
Making, designing, building and having a go without worrying about getting it perfect.
Confidence
Speaking up, joining in and trying things in front of other people.
Independence
The everyday stuff — planning, budgeting, getting places and sorting yourself out.
Personal Safety
Being out and about with friends and knowing how to look after yourself.
Communication
Getting on with people, working in a team and handling awkward moments.

Always changing
A different thing to get stuck into every few weeks.
Activities and specialist workshops change throughout the year, and we bring in visiting guests with skills of their own to share. Some weeks it's messy, some weeks it's active, some weeks it's a proper challenge — but it always ends with everyone having a go.
